Hi all! Been a long busy crazy month. I thought you would be interested in my body scan results!
I saw my endocrinologist two weeks ago and saw my surgeon a week ago.
The results from my body scan were optimal! There was no other thyroid tissue or thyroid cancer found anywhere else in my body (meaning it hadn't spread anywhere). They also said that my Thyroglobulin level was 3 which is extremely low. Basically it means that my body had almost no thyroid tissue remaining before RAI and thus the RAI would have had no trouble finding and destroying them.
YAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!
I see my endocrinologist again in 3 months (Jan) and I see my surgeon again in 6 months (April). I'll get bloodwork done a week before my appt in January which will test all the thyroid things - TSH, T4, Thyroglobulin, etc etc etc. This will help my Dr determine if there is any cancer left. The goal is for my Thyroglobulin level to be ZERO. it acts as a marker to let Dr's know what's up with my thyroid.
My surgeon repeated all the same test results with me and did an exam of my neck, said he couldn't feel anything so that is good. Then he patted me on the shoulder and said "Fine...You're going to be just fine".
Very happy words to hear from a doctor's mouth.
I'm feeling much like my old self and have been so busy with the new work and new apartment that I haven't had time to be tired! But I haven't felt thyroid-hypo-crappy at all. Gotta love medicine saving the day. Levothyroxine to the rescue!
